Assuming they chose their targeted keywords wisely, conversion rates may decrease as rankings improve but the increase in traffic can result in a net gain of total conversion volume.</description>

It always is a constant battle between traffic and conversions (ie: tweaks that might increase conversion ratio could decrease total traffic and vice versa). But some sort of metrics to prove progress is critical, and if the goal is to rank higher clearly being able to track progress is extremely important.</description>
