Teens are active online. That’s not going to surprise anybody that hasn’t been living at the bottom of a well for the past decade or so.
The shocking part is how little their parents know about what they are actually doing online.
Perhaps the naivete is due to the generational and technological gaps. It also could be the lack of oversight over the home computer or unsupervised computer use outside of the home.
Either way, parents should take note of the following statistics from a recent study:

When I Was Your Age…
My wife and I were just talking about this topic the other day. Our family computer (only 1, the horror!) was always in our kitchen so there was no room for schenanigans. We will impose the same rules on our kids someday, simply because we are more aware of the dangers and risks online than our parents were.
